Who We Serve: Schools and Educators

Bridging Clinical Findings and Classroom Practice

One of the ongoing challenges in supporting children is creating a meaningful connection between clinical understanding and what happens in everyday environments like school. A family may receive a detailed neuropsychological evaluation with thoughtful recommendations, but translating those findings into classroom strategies, accommodations, and practical supports can be a complicated process.

At Coherence, both Jennifer Linton Reesman, PhD, ABPP and Korrie Allen, PsyD, ABSNP provide consultation and support related to school functioning. Their work may include helping families and educators understand evaluation findings, clarifying recommendations, participating in school meetings when appropriate, and consulting around the specific needs of a student.

For educators, clinical reports can sometimes contain valuable information that is difficult to translate into daily classroom decisions. Understanding why a student is struggling is an important first step, but knowing what support is likely to help in a real classroom setting is where consultation can be especially useful.

The goal of school consultation at Coherence is to help create a shared understanding between families, clinicians, and educators so that recommendations are not simply documented, but meaningfully connected to the student’s daily experience.

How we work

How Coherence Works with Schools

  • Comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation producing specific, actionable IEP and 504 recommendations (Jennifer Linton Reesman, PhD, ABPP)
  • IEP meeting attendance to present findings and answer school team questions directly (Jennifer Linton Reesman, PhD, ABPP and Korrie Allen, PsyD, ABSNP)
  • Translation of evaluation findings from clinical language into practical classroom terms for teachers and support staff (Jennifer Linton Reesman, PhD, ABPP and Korrie Allen, PsyD, ABSNP)
  • Behavioral consultation and support plan development for students with significant behavioral challenges (Korrie Allen, PsyD, ABSNP)
  • School-based consultation for individual students and for student support teams dealing with complex cases (Korrie Allen, PsyD, ABSNP)
  • Autism school coordination, connecting the clinical understanding of an autistic student’s profile with day-to-day school practice (Korrie Allen, PsyD, ABSNP)

Educators as Essential Partners

Teachers and school staff have a perspective that is essential when understanding how a child functions. They see students across different settings, with different expectations, and during the everyday demands of learning, social interaction, organization, and independence. That information can provide important context that may not be captured in a clinical setting alone.

Both Jennifer Linton Reesman, PhD, ABPP and Korrie Allen, PsyD, ABSNP value collaboration with educators as part of their clinical work. When appropriate, they seek input from school teams, review relevant educational information, and communicate findings in ways that help connect clinical understanding with classroom realities.

Effective collaboration requires recognizing the expertise each person brings. Teachers understand the day-to-day experience of the classroom. Families understand their child’s history and experiences outside of school. Clinicians contribute knowledge about development, learning, behavior, and emotional functioning. Bringing those perspectives together often leads to a clearer understanding of what a student needs.

Coherence also welcomes conversations with schools about consultation, professional learning, and support around specific clinical or developmental topics. The focus is always on creating practical information that can be applied in the environments where children learn and grow.

What Schools Need to Know About Coherence Evaluations

Evaluation reports from Coherence are written with real-world application in mind. Schools are often an important part of a child’s support system, and recommendations are developed to help families and educators understand not only what a student’s profile looks like, but what that profile may mean for learning, behavior, communication, organization, and daily functioning.

A useful evaluation report goes beyond diagnostic information. It connects findings to practical questions: What supports may help this student access learning? What approaches are likely to reduce barriers? How can teachers and caregivers better understand the student’s strengths and areas of difficulty?

Both Jennifer Linton Reesman, PhD, ABPP and Korrie Allen, PsyD, ABSNP provide consultation related to school recommendations when appropriate. This may include attending IEP meetings, discussing findings with school teams, and helping families and educators better understand how clinical information applies in the classroom.

Families often find that the period after an evaluation brings new questions about how to move forward. Coherence helps support that transition by helping families understand the findings, communicate recommendations clearly, and navigate the process of connecting clinical information with the supports a student needs.
