Referring to Coherence
Coherence welcomes referrals from physicians, schools, therapists, attorneys, and families. No formal referral letter is required. An email or phone call describing the clinical question and the patient’s general situation is sufficient to begin the process. Chelsea coordinates all incoming referrals and responds within one business day.
Coherence treats all referrals the same way it treats all other inquiries: with real responsiveness and honest communication about fit. If a referral is within the scope of what Coherence offers, we will say so and identify the appropriate clinician and service. If it is not, we will help identify a better direction. The goal is always to get the patient or family to the right place.
Physicians
Pediatricians, family physicians, neurologists, psychiatrists, and other medical providers are common referral sources at Coherence. A brief clinical summary and the specific referral question are all that is needed to begin. Jennifer Linton Reesman, PhD, ABPP communicates evaluation findings with referring physicians with patient authorization. Korrie Allen, PsyD, ABSNP coordinates with medical providers for patients in therapy when families authorize it.
Include when referring:
- Brief clinical summary and specific referral question
- Patient name, date of birth, and contact information
- Relevant medical records or authorization to request them
- Any prior evaluation reports
Schools
Both clinicians welcome school referrals. Jennifer Linton Reesman, PhD, ABPP evaluates students when the school evaluation has not answered the relevant clinical questions or when independent documentation is needed. Korrie Allen, PsyD, ABSNP provides school-based consultation, IEP support, and behavioral planning. All school referrals for student-specific services require written family consent.
Include when referring:
- Family contact information and consent for the referral
- Summary of academic, behavioral, or developmental concerns
- Relevant school records with family authorization
- The specific clinical or educational question driving the referral
Therapists
Therapists who need neuropsychological evaluation to inform treatment, or who recognize that a cognitive or learning factor may be driving a presentation, may refer to Jennifer Linton Reesman, PhD, ABPP. Therapists seeking behavioral support, parent coaching, or SPACE-based intervention may refer to Korrie Allen, PsyD, ABSNP. Coherence welcomes collaborative referral relationships with outside therapists.
Include when referring:
- Brief clinical summary and the specific referral question
- Prior evaluation reports or clinical documentation with patient authorization
Attorneys
Jennifer Linton Reesman, PhD, ABPP provides forensic neuropsychological evaluation and expert consultation for legal and disability-related matters. Email is preferred for legal referrals to establish the nature of the question clearly before scheduling.
Include when referring:
- Nature of the legal question and neuropsychological expertise needed
- Patient background and timeline
- Any prior neuropsychological or psychological evaluation reports

How we work
What Referring Professionals Can Expect From Coherence
Professionals who refer to Coherence can expect a response within one business day, a clear communication about whether the referral is within the practice’s scope, and direct clinical communication about outcomes when families authorize it. Jennifer Linton Reesman, PhD, ABPP and Korrie Allen, PsyD, ABSNP understand that referring professionals have a clinical relationship with the patient that continues after the evaluation or consultation at Coherence, and they aim to support that continuity rather than disrupt it.
For referring physicians and psychiatrists, Coherence’s evaluation reports are written to be clinically useful in medical contexts, with sufficient specificity to inform diagnostic and treatment decisions. For referring schools, reports are written to support IEP and 504 processes directly. For referring therapists, findings are communicated in a way that complements ongoing therapeutic work rather than duplicating or undermining it.
