Clinical Support for School Teams

School-based consultation at Coherence, provided primarily by Korrie Allen, PsyD, ABSNP, brings clinical perspective and support to the educators and professionals who work with students every day. Teachers, counselors, and school teams have deep knowledge of their students and the realities of the classroom environment. At the same time, some student needs involve complex learning, behavioral, developmental, or emotional factors that benefit from additional clinical understanding.

Consultation is designed to help answer the questions that can be difficult to address within the demands of a school setting. This may include understanding the function of a behavior, identifying supports that match a student’s profile, helping teams interpret evaluation findings, or developing strategies that can be realistically implemented within the classroom.

Coherence approaches school-based consultation as a collaborative partnership. The goal is not to replace the expertise of educators, but to work alongside them by adding clinical insight that helps teams better understand students and create more effective support plans.

School-Based Consultation

What School-Based Consultation at Coherence Addresses

School-based consultation at Coherence can be tailored to the needs of an individual student, classroom team, or broader support team. For individual students, consultation may include communication with school staff, helping translate evaluation findings into practical classroom strategies, developing support approaches, and providing guidance as recommendations are implemented.

For student support teams, consultation may involve reviewing complex cases, helping teams think through a student’s learning, behavioral, developmental, or emotional needs, and identifying approaches that are most likely to be effective. The goal is to help schools develop support plans that are individualized rather than relying on strategies that may not fit the student’s actual profile.

Korrie Allen, PsyD, ABSNP also provides consultation around behavioral concerns in school settings. This work focuses on understanding what may be contributing to a student’s behavior and helping teams develop responses that address the underlying needs rather than only the visible behavior.

For autistic students, school coordination is an important part of this process. Consultation helps connect the clinical understanding of the student’s communication style, sensory needs, strengths, and challenges with the everyday environments and relationships that shape the student’s experience at school.

How Korrie Allen, PsyD, ABSNP Approaches School Teams

Korrie Allen, PsyD, ABSNP’s school consultation work is built around collaboration. She approaches school teams as partners, bringing clinical knowledge about a student’s profile while recognizing the expertise educators already have about their classrooms, students, and school environment.

The most effective support plans are created when everyone involved has a shared understanding of the student’s needs and works together toward practical solutions. Consultation focuses on creating that shared understanding by helping teams connect clinical information with the realities of the school setting.

The goal of school consultation is not simply to provide recommendations, but to help teams develop strategies they understand, can implement, and can adapt as the student’s needs change. Korrie Allen, PsyD, ABSNP works to ensure that schools leave the consultation process with meaningful tools and a clearer framework for supporting the student.
